Lia and Mimmo, a real Sicilian couple living in America, laughing together — the stars of The Sicilian Life Unfiltered video series

Meet Lia & Mimmo: A Real Sicilian Couple, Unfiltered and Unforgettable

Some things you can't make up. The way a Sicilian woman runs her kitchen. The way her husband nods along, fork in hand, knowing better than to argue. The commentary, the gestures, the love that's so big it comes out sideways as sarcasm. If you grew up in a Sicilian household, you already know exactly what we're talking about. And if you didn't — well, you're about to.

The Sicilian Life (Unfiltered) is a video series featuring a real Sicilian couple — Lia and Mimmo — living their very real Sicilian life in America. Lia is firmly in charge. Mimmo is happily along for the ride, and the taste-testing. Together, they move through the rhythms of daily life — from the kitchen to the table and everywhere in between — with the kind of warmth, humor, and unmistakable attitude that only a true Sicilian household can produce. I added this page to the store because I know them personally, and their family dynamics have forever amused me. It felt wrong to keep that to myself.

The Kitchen Is Lia's Domain — and These Belong In It

If Lia's kitchen had a trivet, it would be the Carretto Siciliano Wheel Trivet — bold, Sicilian, and completely unapologetic about it. The painted carretto is one of Sicily's most iconic folk art symbols, and this trivet brings that tradition right to the stovetop where Sunday gravy belongs. Mimmo would set his bowl on it without a second thought. Lia would notice immediately.

For the Apron She Actually Wears: Nonna Trinacria Sicily Apron

Lia doesn't cook in a plain apron. The Nonna Trinacria Sicily Apron — featuring Sicily's iconic Trinacria symbol — is the kind of apron that means business. It's practical, it's beautiful, and it says I know what I'm doing in here without a single word.

For the Morning Before the Commentary Starts: Sicilian Roots Mug

Every Sicilian morning starts with coffee. The Sicilian Roots Mug is the one you reach for before you're ready to deal with anyone — bold typography, heritage pride, and enough personality to carry the whole kitchen. Mimmo probably has one. Lia definitely has opinions about his.

For the One Who Wears the Boot With Pride: "Boot Roots" T-shirt

Lia and Mimmo don't need to announce where they're from — but the "Boot Roots" T-shirt does it anyway, cleanly and confidently. It's for anyone who carries Italy with them wherever they go and wants the world to know it. Style availability varies; click through to the product page for all options including tees, long sleeves, and hoodies.

For the Home That Feels Like Theirs: Flag of Sicily Trinacria Throw Pillow

A Sicilian home has personality in every corner. The Flag of Sicily Red and Yellow Design with Classic Trinacria Throw Pillow is the kind of accent piece that quietly says everything about who lives there — heritage on display, no explanation needed. It belongs on the couch where Mimmo sits after dinner, pretending he's not about to fall asleep.

For the Kitchen That Tells Its Own Story: Nonna's Sicilian/Italian Cucina Cutting Board

If there's one thing Lia's kitchen has, it's history. The Nonna's Sicilian/Italian Cucina Custom Etched Cutting Board is a gift that honors the woman who taught everyone how to cook — and the kitchen where it all happened. Display it, use it, or both. Either way, it earns its place.

For the Symbol That Says It All: Trinacria Medusa Sicilian Knob

The Trinacria — Sicily's ancient three-legged symbol with the Medusa at its center — is everywhere on the island, and for good reason. The Trinacria Medusa Sicilian Knob brings that icon into the home as a cabinet or drawer knob. It's the kind of detail only a Sicilian would think to add — and only a Sicilian would fully appreciate.

Their love is loud and layered, their kitchen is the center of the universe, and their dynamic is the kind of thing you watch once and immediately send to every Italian and Sicilian person you know. The Sicilian Life (Unfiltered) is our gift to you — a window into a world that's warm, hilarious, and completely, beautifully Sicilian.
